Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Undersecretary Emil K. Sadain reaffirmed the agency’s commitment to advancing infrastructure development in partnership with the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA).
The collaboration covers 21 key projects amounting to P921.66 billion.
Sadain, who oversees flagship projects funded through Official Development Assistance, said the partnership with Japan will bring significant improvements aligned with President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s Bagong Pilipinas vision. He cited the Davao City Bypass Project, which features the country’s first long-distance road tunnel.
During a roundtable meeting with Japanese officials in Manila, Sadain presented updates on completed and ongoing projects, including the Marawi rehabilitation program, flood control systems, arterial roads, and seismic upgrades of Metro Manila bridges.
Other priority projects under feasibility study include the Parañaque Spillway, the Second San Juanico Bridge, and the rehabilitation of Kennon Road. Sadain said these efforts represent tangible progress toward a future-ready Philippines.
