Power interruptions set at NAIA Terminal 2

Power interruptions are set to hit the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Terminal 2 on four separate dates in September, according to the airport’s private operator, the New NAIA Infra Corp. (NNIC).

These interruptions are scheduled for September 5 (Friday), 9 (Tuesday), 11 (Thursday), and 12 (Friday), occurring from 8 p.m. until 2 a.m.

“Please be informed that Meralco Energy, Inc. (MSERV) will be conducting preventive maintenance and load transfer activities at NAIA Terminal 2’s Northwing and Southwing substations,” the NNIC on Friday announced in its advisory.

The operator explained that this maintenance work is part of ongoing efforts to improve and secure the power systems that keep airport operations running smoothly.

“During these periods, generator sets will not be activated in affected areas as the power source for these substations is directly connected to the airport’s main powerhouse feeder. As a result, some parts of Terminal 2 may experience brief and occasional power interruptions, including lighting, air-conditioning, and electrical outlets,” the NNIC said.

“We are doing our best to keep any inconvenience to a minimum. Thank you for your patience and understanding,” it added.
