Police personnel based in Metro Manila expressed their unshakeable support to Philippine National Police (PNP) Chief Gen. Nicolas Torre III vowed to abide by all his administrative and operational directives pursuant to the lawful exercise of his mandate.
In a statement, members of the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) said they respect the leadership of Torre, who has so far implemented significant and impactful organizational changes that received positive feedback from the community.
The NCRPO cited a recent OCTA survey, which gave the PNP 71% public trust and performance rating from the community, as definitive proof that the Filipino people welcome and appreciate this new operational direction.
“We must take advantage of this momentum,” the NCRPO said. “These gains must be sustained by ensuring that the programs of the Chief PNP [are] unhampered and supported by the members of the PNP towards its full institutionalization.”
“This can only happen if the PNP is strongly united with all of its subordinate units marching in the same direction,” the group added in their statement.
The NCRPO relayed this message after the National Police Commission (Napolcom) released a controversial resolution, which appeared to have nullified Torre’s authority to reassign various senior police officials, leading to observations of a brewing ‘turf war.’
The NCRPO, as well as other regional organizations, called for unity, respect for due process and adherence to the Constitution in all of our endeavors towards “the attainment of our objective to serve and protect the people.”
