The Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao has arrested two high-value targets in a buy-bust operation in Maguindanao del Norte.
In a statement on Tuesday, the PDEA said the operation resulted in the confiscation of one kilo of suspected shabu worth P6.8 million in Purok Nursery, Barangay Making, Parang on Aug. 11, and the dismantling of a drug distribution network in the region.
Those nabbed were identified as aliases Kintang, 27, farmer from Talitay, Maguindanao del Sur, and Alinor from Kabacan, North Cotabato.
The duo is facing charges for violation of Section 5, Article II of Republic Act No. 9165, which carries a penalty of life imprisonment.
PDEA-BARMM director Gil Cesario Castro credited the successful operation to the importance of effective intelligence sharing, inter-agency cooperation, and dedication of all participating units in the relentless fight against illegal drugs.
The operation was led by the PDEA, supported by the provincial government, the Philippine National Police, and the Philippine Marines.
