Madrona backs Romualdez re-election as House Speaker

Romblon Rep. Eleandro Jesus Madrona threw his full support behind the re-election of Leyte Rep. Martin Romualdez as Speaker of the House of Representatives for the 20th Congress.

In a statement released on Sunday, July 27, Madrona cited Romualdez’s dependable leadership, institutional integrity and unwavering commitment to the Filipino people.

“The leader we trust to deliver for the people, not only of words but of actions and concern,” Madrona said.

He noted that Romualdez has earned the trust and confidence of lawmakers across parties by fostering unity in the chamber, advancing important legislation, and working constructively with the Marcos administration without compromising the House’s independence.

“Under his speakership, the House passed landmark legislation and maintained a very productive working relationship with the Executive Branch, all while staying true to our constitutional mandate. That kind of leadership is both rare and essential,” he added.

“At this critical juncture, we cannot afford uncertainty or experimentation. We need continuity, competence, and clarity of vision — and Speaker Martin embodies all three,” Madrona emphasized.

He urged fellow lawmakers to rally behind Romualdez’s fresh bid to lead the House of Representatives in the 20th Congress.
