Bureau of Immigration (BI) officers intercepted a Filipina along with her fake Moroccan husband at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport while they were bound for Saudi Arabia. Commissioner Joel Anthony Viado said the 41-year-old woman and her 52-year-old Moroccan companion were stopped after officers found that their documents were counterfeit.
The female passenger initially claimed she was traveling to Morocco via Saudi Arabia with her alleged husband. However, investigators found inconsistencies in their statements and referred the marriage certificate for forensic examination.
The BI’s anti-fraud laboratory confirmed that the document was fake. Viado warned that individuals caught using falsified papers would face the harshest penalties under the law.
