Philippine National Police (PNP) spokesperson Brigadier Gen. Jean Fajardo on Tuesday said two persons were arrested in connection with the murder of a House committee on ways and means chief of technical staff Director Mauricio ‘Morrie’ Pulhin.
“That’s based on our backtracking of CCTV cameras and the CCTV cameras saw the gunman and this second suspect we caught go to the house of this alias Balong to hide and change clothes,” Fajardo said.
“The clothes of the gunman were recovered there,” she added.
The PNP said an alias ‘Balong’ was arrested in Caloocan and an alias ‘Jayson’ was arrested in Quezon City. One acted as the middleman, while the other served as the lookout, according to Fajardo.
The two suspects admitted they were hired for P30,000 to shoot the victim.
“According to Balong, they still haven’t been paid to this day,” Fajardo said.
Meanwhile, the PNP said there are four other suspects who remain at large. Based on initial investigation, Fajardo said the victim was gunned down after planning to file a case against the alleged masterminds.
“They (alleged masterminds) asked their assistant to look for a hitman and this first suspect we arrested yesterday, alias ‘Balong,’ admitted to his participation,” she noted.
The arrested suspects are now in the custody of the Quezon City Police District.
