Bagong Henerasyon (BH) party-list heaved a sigh of relief Friday after the Commission on Elections’ (Comelec) First Division moved to dismiss the disqualification case against the organization, which held back its proclamation.
In a statement posted on Facebook, the political organization advocating for families and solo parents extended its “deepest respect and appreciation” to the Comelec led by chairman George Erwin Garcia for ruling in their favor.
“We recognize the difficult role you play in safeguarding the sanctity of our elections. This moment is a testament to the strength of our democratic institutions — that they can be questioned, and yet remain firm, fair, and faithful to the rule of law,” the group said.
The BH party-list was voted by approximately 319,803 citizens in the recently concluded 2025 midterm elections, securing one seat in the House of Representatives. It will select a representative among its list of nominees.
“Bagong Henerasyon has always stood for service over spotlight, and this journey only deepens our commitment to that calling. We do not take lightly the responsibility now placed upon us,” the party-list noted in its message to its supporters.
“We walk into Congress not with fanfare, but with humility. Not with entitlement, but with resolve. Not as victors, but as servants of the people. We thank every Filipino who still believes in the power of their voice. To you, we dedicate this mandate,” BH added.
The Comelec First Division noted in its resolution that the petitioner who questioned BH party-list’s eligibility failed to attach necessary documents that would have helped the poll body assess the weight of the complainant’s case against the organization.
Garcia, however, said that while the disqualification case against BH partylist was dismissed, it will not yet proclaim the group because the petitioner might still file a motion for reconsideration. “Once the decision is final and executory, the Comelec can proclaim the BH partylist,” he told reporters. – With Vito Barcelo
