Sara Duterte to PMA grads: Uphold truth, integrity

Vice President Sara Duterte on Saturday called on the Philippine Military Academy (PMA) “SIKLAB LAYA” Class of 2025 to be defenders of truth and integrity, not instruments of betrayal or abuse.

In a video message posted on her official Facebook page, Duterte encouraged the graduating cadets to become champions of goodness, righteousness, and meaningful change in the lives of Filipinos who continue to dream, work hard, and strive for success.

She cautioned them against being used as tools of abuse, betrayal, or oppression by those in power, urging them instead to remain committed to justice and the well-being of their fellow Filipinos.

The Vice President acknowledged the graduates’ patriotism, which she said they had already demonstrated by choosing to enter the PMA. She described their decision as a commitment to selfless service — one embraced only by the brave, the courageous, and the truly patriotic — in a country still grappling with institutional abuses and deep social inequalities that affect the poor most of all.

Duterte also spoke of their future role in shaping a freer and stronger nation, emphasizing that their service would ignite the aspirations of a truly independent country. She expressed confidence that the cadets would continue to embody the core values of courage, integrity, and loyalty that defined their military education.

Looking ahead, she urged the graduates to maintain their dedication and determination, especially in the face of challenges. She described them as potential beacons of hope and strength for the nation.

Finally, Duterte reminded them to uphold the ideals of an independent, non-partisan, and professional military institution — one that is solely committed to defending the Constitution.
