Cebu Pacific and its sister airline, CebGo, have suspended at least 29 domestic and international flights following the eruption of Mount Kanlaon on Tuesday and the subsequent presence of volcanic ash in the surrounding airspace.
Canceled on Wednesday include fights in Ninoy Aquino International Airport to and from Bacolod and Iloilo, and in Iloilo to and from Cebu and Hong Kong.
Flights that were scheduled for Tuesday were also affected, including those between Manila and Iloilo and Bacolod, as well as flights from Cebu to Iloilo and Bacolod, and from Iloilo to Cagayan de Oro, Davao, and Bacolod.
“The safety of our passengers and crew remains our highest priority. We will continue to closely monitor the situation and make further adjustments to our operations as needed,” stated the Cebu Pacific management.
Affected passengers have been notified via email and can choose from the following options through the Manage Booking portal on the Cebu Pacific website: Passengers can rebook without a fare difference for travel up to thirty (30) days from the original flight date. A fare difference will apply if the travel period extends beyond thirty (30) days from the original flight date.
Passengers can also store the amount in a virtual CEB wallet, which can be used to either book a new flight or pay for add-ons (e.g., baggage allowance, seat selection, etc.), or request a full refund of their ticket.
“As this is an evolving situation, more flight changes may occur in the coming days. We appreciate your patience and understanding as we work towards normalizing our operations. We will provide updates as necessary,” the airline said.
