Filipinos on Monday evening through Tuesday took to social media to welcome the partial, unofficial results of the 2025 elections’ party-list race, currently led by Akbayan.
Particularly, “Akbayan” and “Chel Diokno” trended on X (formerly Twitter) in reference to the party list’s first nominee as Filipinos prepare for the latter’s “Congressman era.”
Trailing ahead of the likes of Duterte Youth, Tingog, and 4PS, Akbayan is poised to secure three seats in the House of Representatives.
Alongside Diokno, Akbayan’s 2nd nominee is Perci Cendaña and its 3rd nominee is Dadah Kiram Ismula.
One social media user reposted an earlier campaign advertisement featuring Sen. Risa Hontiveros joined by Diokno, as well as Bam Aquino and Francis “Kiko” Pangilinan—who are also among the top 12 in the senatorial race so far.
Another celebrated Diokno’s eventual victory together with Leila de Lima, first nominee of Mamamayang Liberal (ML)—one of the leading groups in the party-list race.
Diokno has since welcomed the early results and admitted that Akbayan’s showing surprised him.
“We were very shook. We didn’t expect that this would be the result. We were hoping, of course, for a lot of votes. But we never expected this number,” Diokno said in a mix of English and Filipino over an ANC interview.
