SENATOR Imee Marcos on Friday released a political advertisement claiming that her brother President Marcos, has lost control of government.
Meanwhile, Alyansa Para sa Bagong Pilipinas senatorial bets Vicente Sotto III, Erwin Tulfo, and Panfilo Lacson refused to comment on Senator Marcos’ recent attacks against her brother’s administration, along with Speaker Ferdinand Martin Romualdez, and First Lady Liza Araneta-Marcos.
The government is no longer a Marcos one. The government we have now is Romualdez and Araneta,” Imee said.
She asserted that a “true Marcos would not enter into an alliance with politicians who ‘mistreated’ their family, which fled the Philippines in 1986 after the People Power Revolution ended the dictatorship of Ferdinand Marcos Sr.”
Imee cited recent issues that confronted the country as indications that her brother was no longer in control.
“Rice is imported, even justice is imported, that is why it is clear that this is not a Marcos government,” she pointed out.
Imee and her brother had been at odds over their conflicting stance on the March 11 arrest and transfer of former President Rodrigo Duterte on orders of the International Criminal Court (ICC), where he faces allegations of crimes against humanity over his bloody drug war.
Imee left Alyansa last month after launching a Senate investigation into Duterte’s arrest.
“The best comment is no comment,” said Lacson.
Tulfo, for his part, said “everyone is entitled to their own opinion.”
Sotto echoed the views of his fellow Alyansa senatorial bets, stating they would not make any comment on the matter.
