A total of over 74,000 individuals have now been affected by the Bulusan Volcano eruption on Monday, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) said.
In its progress report, the said figures were equivalent to 14,830 families in 51 barangays in Sorsogon Province.
NDRRMC said an aerial assessment with Provincial Disaster and Risk Reduction Management Office Sorsogon, Municipal Disaster and Risk Reduction Management Office Bulusan and Office of Civil Defense in Bicol were conducted to assess the area.
The disaster agency also reported that 13 barangays in Sorsogon were affected by ashfalls coming from the Bulusan eruption.
“Alert Level 1 status is now raised over Bulusan Volcano, which means that the volcano is currently in a state of low-level unrest with chances of phreatic eruptions succeeding this morning’s event,” the NDRRMC said.
