The Police Aviation Security Group arrested a passenger who was caught in possession of illegal drugs in Ninoy Aquino International Airport—Terminal 2.
The suspect, a 33-year-old resident of San Mateo, Rizal, was about to board a flight to Davao when flagged during routine screening.
Office for Transportation Security (OTS) personnel noticed a suspicious bulge in his pocket, which led to the discovery of an improvised sachet wrapped in duct tape and a small glass tube.
A joint team from the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency and the Police K-9 unit responded and conducted an investigation. The team confirmed the presence of illegal drugs, and further testing revealed 1.5 grams of high-grade marijuana, or “Kush,” valued at P2,100.
The suspect is now in PDEA custody and will be charged with violation of Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
