The head of the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority’s (MMDA) Special Operations Group-Strike Force (SOG-SF), Gabriel Go, has started attending a five-day coaching and mentoring program after a viral video showed him scolding a police captain during an illegal parking operation in Quezon City.

The MMDA described the training as focused on traffic management, leadership, discipline, and stress control.

Despite the controversy, Go was retained as head of the SOG-SF. The MMDA previously issued a show cause order against him, and the agency’s Legal and Legislative Affairs Staff later issued a formal reprimand for simple discourtesy, warning of stricter penalties for any future misconduct.

The incident led to a criminal complaint being filed by the police captain involved, including charges against a private vlogger present during the confrontation. The MMDA emphasized that the training was intended for self-improvement, not punishment, and stressed the importance of professionalism and maximum tolerance among traffic enforcers.

In response to the controversy, the MMDA has banned unauthorized documentation of its operations, including vlogging and posting content during work hours. Only the agency’s Public Information Office is now authorized to release photos and videos of operations through official social media platforms.
