The Philippine Army’s 6th Infantry (Kampilan) Division on Wednesday condemned the killing of an election officer in Datu Odin Sinsuat, Maguindanao del Norte.

Lawyer and election officer Bai Maceda Lidasan-Abo and her husband Jojo Abo were killed in an ambush in Barangay Makir, Datu Odin Sinsuat, Maguindanao del Norte, on March 26, 2025.

Guimiran said, security has been intensified, with tighter patrols and checkpoint inspections near military detachments after the incident.

Lidasan-Abo was declared dead on arrival at a nearby hospital, while her husband, who was driving, died while being transported for medical attention.

Reports indicate that Abo attempted to evade the ambush by steering the vehicle off the road, which ultimately led to the car running aground.

Local police are investigating the incident, but as of now, the suspects remain unidentified. The motive behind the attack is also under investigation.
