Four Chinese nationals were apprehended over their alleged involvement in fraud and smuggling activities during a law enforcement operation in Barangay Nueva Vida, M’lang, Cotabato on Monday, March 24, 2025.
The suspects were arrested in a coordinated effort involving forces from the Bureau of Immigration (BI), the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI), the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA), and the Philippine National Police (PNP).
The Joint Task Force Central (JTFC) and the 6th Infantry (Kampilan) Division of the Philippine Army also aided the operation.
The individuals were allegedly engaged in fraudulent schemes and smuggling activities at a chemical products manufacturing plant in Barangay Nueva Vida. Authorities discovered that the suspects were either working without valid visas or had misrepresented their visa statuses.
JTFC and 6th Infantry Division (6ID) Commander Major Gen. Donald Gumiran emphasized the military’s key role in ensuring the success of the operation. The 6ID/JTFC secured the site and facilitated the immigration officials’ entry to confront the individuals while prioritizing safety and legal compliance.
“The 6ID/JTFC remains committed to assisting government agencies in ensuring national security and protecting communities from illegal activities,” said Gumiran. He commended the BI, NBI, PDEA, and PNP for their efforts and reaffirmed the military’s continued support for future operations.
The suspects are now in the custody of the Philippine authorities for further investigation and legal action.
