Nueva Ecija Rep. Ria Vergara urged President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. to safeguard the achievements of the outgoing leadership of the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) as he selects the agency’s next chief.
Vergara cited the e-Gov PH Super App as among the IT initiatives that must not be disrupted by the ongoing DICT reorganization.
Vergara, a senior member of the House Committee on Information and Communications Technology, cited the need to sustain the eGov PH Super App, a groundbreaking digital platform launched in 2023 by the DICT’s e-Government Group, led by Undersecretary David Almirol.
Vergara said the next DICT secretary must guarantee the app’s success by pursuing the next steps in ensuring the readiness of the country’s IT infrastructure.
Almirol’s team developed the app that consolidates various government services into a single platform, eliminating the need for users to visit multiple websites or physical offices. This digital transformation has led to faster processing timers and improved efficiency across numerous agencies.
