The Taguig City Government on Friday warned the public about false information circulating that city councilors are accepting requirements in exchange for medical or financial assistance.

“We would like to inform everyone that the spreading of false information or any similar activities is outright deception against the people and is strongly condemned by the government of Taguig City. This causes inconvenience to residents who are trying to gather the requirements in the hope of receiving medical or financial assistance,” the city’s Public Information Office (PIO) said.

“Everyone is advised not to believe false or dubious information and to refer only to the official announcements from the City of Taguig,” it added.

Local officials reminded the public that spreading false information is a punishable offense, punishable by imprisonment ranging from six months and one day to six years.

For official announcements, the Taguig PIO urged residents to contact the local government offices or visit their official social media pages: Facebook: I Love Taguig https://facebook.com/taguigcity/; Instagram: @taguigcity https://instagram.com/taguigcity/;  Twitter: @IloveTaguig1 https://twitter.com/IloveTaguig1, and Viber: I (heart) Taguig Community http://bit.do/ILoveTaguigCommunity.
