Senatorial candidate Leody De Guzman, alongside youth leaders, formalized a covenant at the Commission on Human Rights, pledging to champion free, accessible, quality, and safe education.

This agreement includes a commitment to pursue comprehensive sexuality education, a topic of contention, particularly given President Bongbong Marcos’s stated intention to veto such legislation.

De Guzman emphasized the current education system’s inadequacy in addressing youth sexual education, highlighting its role in leaving them vulnerable to exploitation. He voiced his determination to push for the bill’s passage, countering the misinformation surrounding it.

The signed ‘Youth Agenda’ signifies a promise to advocate for increased education funding, the rejection of mandatory ROTC revival, the mandate for schools to adopt renewable energy, and the enactment of a universal students’ Magna Carta.

De Guzman reinforced his commitment to advocating for youth interests in the Senate, stating, “We need to strive to pave the way for the change that is due for the youth and the generations to come.”

The Youth Agenda, a product of extensive consultations with youth and student organizations, reflects the aspirations and needs of the youth.

Kabataan Para Kina Ka Leody announced plans to conduct nationwide education campaigns in universities and schools to promote the Youth Agenda.
