Cambodian envoy bids farewell, thanks Marcos for PH-Cambodia ties

Cambodian Ambassador to the Philippines Phan Peuv on Thursday expressed gratitude to the Philippine government for its “unwavering support and commitment” during his tenure, emphasizing the importance of strong bilateral ties between the two nations.

“For the past three years, I have been privileged to work with you to further push our bilateral relations and cooperation in common areas,” Phan told President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. during a farewell call at Malacañang.

“Recently, the fruitful outcome of the official visit of Hun Manet, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia, further strengthened our partnership,” he added.

Phan, who assumed his post on May 25, 2022, said serving as Cambodia’s envoy to the Philippines had been a “great honor and privilege.”

His departure follows the two-day official visit of Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet and his delegation earlier this week.

President Marcos lauded the meeting as “very successful and productive,” highlighting key discussions on agriculture, education, trade, and investments.

The President noted that his past engagements with Hun Manet during international forums have consistently led to meaningful discussions.

“During the ASEAN, APEC meetings, Prime Minister Hun Manet and I have always been somehow discussing many, many things about both our countries and the similarities,” Mr. Marcos said.

“That’s why I think that led to the very productive meetings that we had the other day when he came to visit,” he added.

The Philippines and Cambodia established diplomatic relations in 1957, fostering a partnership that has evolved through bilateral cooperation and regional collaboration.
