President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. is set to host Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet for his first official visit to the Philippines from February 10 to 11, according to the Presidential Communications Office (PCO).
Mr. Marcos and Hun Manet are scheduled to hold a bilateral meeting on February 11 to discuss strengthening cooperation in defense, trade, tourism, and efforts to combat transnational crimes. Regional and multilateral cooperation will also be on the agenda.
The visit marks a significant step in Philippine-Cambodian relations, as both nations seek to enhance economic ties and security collaboration.
More than 7,000 Filipinos currently live and work in Cambodia, highlighting the importance of people-to-people connections between the two countries.
Hun Manet, who took office in August 2023, has been reinforcing Cambodia’s diplomatic ties within the region. His visit to Manila follows previous engagements with other Southeast Asian leaders as Cambodia continues to navigate regional challenges and economic partnerships.
Further details about the visit, including possible agreements or joint statements, are expected to be released following the leaders’ meeting.
