DILG chief urges fugitive former police general to surrender

Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) Secretary Juanito Victor ‘Jonvic’ Remulla called on a retired police officer implicated in the P6.7-billion controversial drug raid to surrender and face charges.

“It’s sad that a former law enforcer is now evading justice. The person who swore to uphold the law is the one avoiding it now,” Remulla said in response to former Philippine National Police (PNP) Brigadier Gen. Narciso Domingo.

Domingo recently addressed accusations against him in a Facebook video. He criticized former and incumbent DILG officials for allegedly trying to flip the narrative regarding the 2022 anti-drug operations in Tondo, Manila.

“Defend yourself like an officer and a gentleman,” Remulla told Domingo. “If you refuse to surrender, that’s your decision. But I hope you don’t take it the wrong way if I decide to have you pursued to the ends of the Earth,” he added.

Domingo remains at large after he was indicted for an alleged cover-up in the seizure of nearly 7 billion pesos worth of narcotics in 2022. He led the operation in which 990 kilos of shabu was recovered from an establishment reportedly owned by Police Master Sergeant Rodolfo Mayo, Jr.

In his video uploaded last week, Domingo said he has no plans to surrender and asserted he is not guilty of the accusations hurled against him. He pointed to Mayo and his alleged conspirators as the only enemy of the government in this case.
