BORACAY Is.—A health advocate here who has tested positive for human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) thanked the World Health Organization (WHO) for sustaining its programs despite the recent withdrawal of the United States of America.
Newly elected US President Donald Trump has announced America’s withdrawal from the WHO because of alleged mishandling of COVID 19 cases and other health issues. Because of this withdrawal, Washington is stopping its funding assistance to WHO related programs.
Devine Pogoy, president of Positibong Laso based here said she is thankful that the WHO through the Department of Health continued the antiretroviral treatment program in the country. The Positibong Laso is a group of HIV advocates who support and empower every people living with HIV in Aklan.
