Batangas hosts multi-arts festival to boost tourism, preserve cultural heritage

In partnership with the Cultural Center of the Philippines (CCP), the province of Batangas will host this year’s largest multi-arts festival to foster deeper appreciation of the arts’ role in shaping cultural landscape, uniting communities, and preserving traditions.

In an exclusive interview with Manila Standard, Governor Hermilando Mandanas underscored the event as a testament that culture and arts is alive and kicking.

“The province is historic not only because of our national heroes and natural wonders but also for its rich culture and arts… it must be preserved, valued, and loved by the younger generation,” he said.

Meanwhile, Amado Hagos, Culture and Arts Division head of the Provincial Tourism and Cultural Affairs Office (PTCAO), said the event will bring arts closer to Batangueños for free.

“We are thankful that the CCP has chosen the province as one of its regional partners this year from February 1-2. We are excited to bring arts to locals so we hope it will be visited by many as it is open to the public,” he said.

In celebration of the National Arts Month, he noted participants will have access to “Palihan” or art workshops, “Palabas” or performances and film screenings, “Pamilihan” or arts and food bazaar, “Paseo Museo” or tour of museums, and “Palitan” or arts market.

With the theme “Watch-all-you-can and Pay-only-what-you-can, Learn-all-you-can and Pay-only-what-you can,” they will also be able to meet and greet the greatest artists in the region and other parts of the country.

The extensive selection of shows, workshops, and diverse engagements will highlight fields in music, theater, dance, visual arts, film, and literature.

Activities will be housed in different locations in the provincial capitol compound including Museo ng Batangas, Provincial Auditorium, DREAM Zone, Liwasang Turismo, Marble Terrace, Samahang Batangueña and PTCAO Showroom.

The two-day activity will also be staged in Sorsogon City, Iloilo City, Himamaylan City, and Tagum City.
