The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) updated its reading of a strong tectonic earthquake that hit Siocon, Zamboanga del Norte from magnitude-6.1 to magnitude-5.4.
Phivolcs said the quake struck at 11:41 a.m. on Thursday and was estimated at 32 kilometers deep.
The epicenter felt the tremor at Intensity 5 as well as Zamboanga City, Ipil in Zamboanga Sibugay and the City of Isabela, according to latest bulletin.
Other areas affected by the earthquake in the Zamboanga peninsula include Sibuco, Dimataling, Alicia, Dipolog City, President Manuel A. Roxas, Buug and Siay.
Less intensities were reported in parts of Antique, Negros Occidental, Negros Oriental, Zamboanga del Sur, and Maguindanao.
Earlier, Phivolcs also reported a magnitude-5.8 quake in San Francisco, Southern Leyte, which affected many areas across Visayas and Mindanao.
