CHR to monitor state protection of OFWs

THE Commission on Human Rights (CHR) on Friday vowed to closely monitor the government’s compliance with international treaties and laws to protect migrant workers.

The CHR made the pledge in light of the slaying of a slain overseas Filipino worker in Kuwait, In a statement, the Commission acknowledged the efforts of the Department of Migrant Workers and Department of Foreign Affairs in seeking justice for 35-year-old Daphne Nacalaban.

Last Dec. 31, the DFA disclosed that Nacalaban’s body was found buried in the gardener’s yard of her employer’s residence in Saad Al-Abdulla, Jahra.
