NNIC reopens main arrival area to private vehicles at NAIA 1

The management of Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) announced the opening of the main arrival curbside at Terminal 1 to all private vehicles, aiming to enhance the travel experience for all passengers by making it more inclusive and convenient.

This move is part of New NAIA Infra Corp. (NNIC)’s efforts to improve traffic flow and passenger comfort at the airport’s busiest terminal.

Allowing all passengers to use the arrival curbside is a key feature of the newly reconfigured pickup system, designed to simplify pickups for private vehicles, ride-hailing services, and metered taxis, while also easing congestion.

The soft launch of this new system began on Friday, giving passengers and transport providers the opportunity to familiarize themselves with the changes.

Full implementation of the system is scheduled for Monday, allowing time to gather feedback and make any necessary adjustments for a smooth transition.

The main arrival curbside features fourteen designated loading bays (A1 to A14) for private vehicle pickups. With this change, arriving passengers will no longer need to go to the ground floor passenger arrival extension area to meet their rides; they can now wait comfortably at the main arrival curbside.

Additionally, Terminal Transfer shuttle bus services will operate from this area, with stops located just beyond Bay A14.

As part of the overall reconfiguration, the outer curbside (B1 to B6) will serve as an additional pickup area. This section will include a dedicated Meet and Greet Area, set to open on Sunday.

Grab ride-hailing booths will be strategically located in the area to provide quick and convenient booking options for passengers.

Rent-a-car services, coupon taxis, and yellow metered taxis will be relocated to the arrival extension area on the ground level. This adjustment is expected to further decongest the main terminal curbside while ensuring reliable public transport access.

“These changes reflect our commitment to delivering a seamless and efficient airport experience,” said NNIC President Ramon Ang.

“By introducing a redesigned curbside system, we are facilitating better connections for passengers and their loved ones while addressing longstanding traffic issues at Terminal 1.”

To ensure a smooth transition, clear directional signage will be installed throughout the terminal, and airport personnel will be available to guide passengers and drivers to the appropriate zones.
