A party-list legislator urged fellow employees of the House of Representatives to commit to elevating the standards of public service and governance as part of their New Year’s resolution for 2025.
Speaking at the House flag-raising ceremony on the first Monday of the year, Bicol Saro party-list Rep. Brian Raymund Yamsuan expressed confidence over the capability and determination of his fellow workers in the congressional institution to fulfill this resolution.
“Whatever your position, in every person you talk to or paper you sign, show them that the House of Representatives is truly for the Filipino people. Let your words and actions reflect the standard of public service that defines this august chamber,” said Yamsuan in his inspirational message at the ceremony hosted by the House Legislative Information Resources Management Department.
Also present at the flag raising ceremony were House Deputy Secretaries General Dante Robert Maling, Romulo Miral Jr., Jennelyn Go-Sison, Jose Ma. Antonio Tuaño, Grace Andres and Annalou Nachura.
“Each interaction, no matter how small, and each decision, no matter how routine, contributes to the trust and faith that our people place in us,” Yamsuan told his fellow House employees.
The party-list lawmaker said he is aware that fulfilling this resolution would not be easy following the series of challenges that the House has faced in 2024 and would still be facing this year.
Rather than looking at these challenges as hardships, Yamsuan urged House employees to view them as opportunities for growth.
“This is evident under the leadership of our hardworking House Speaker, Speaker Ferdinand Martin Romualdez and Secretary General Reginald Velasco. The challenges that we faced last year became opportunities for us to rise above and leave a mark of excellence,” Yamsuan said.
“So today, as you return to your stations and begin a new workweek and work year, I encourage you to welcome this new year with a mindset that radiates joy and fresh hope: hope for a better day, hope for a better year, and hope for a better future for all the Filipino people,” he added.
