The Department of Health (DOH) denied recent social media claims about an alleged international health concern surrounding a contagious disease.
According to the health agency, current reliable sources do not support these circulating posts, and there is no confirmation from the referenced country or the World Health Organization (WHO).
“The DOH is actively verifying all information, and will keep the Filipino public updated,” it assured.
The DOH says that Philippine disease surveillance systems are fully operational and effectively monitoring health threats.
“Please do not share questionable websites or online sources. Let us not spread misinformation and confusion,” it advised.
The Philippines actively participates in the WHO’s International Health Regulations (IHR) network, which provides accurate updates on global health matters.
Since 2016, the Philippines has engaged in the Joint External Evaluation (JEE) process, showcasing its commitment to health security. The country has made significant advancements in health preparedness based on insights from prior evaluations.
