Amihan, shear line bring scattered rains to several areas in Luzon

The Northeast Monsoon (Amihan) is currently impacting Extreme Northern Luzon, while shear line affects the eastern parts of Central Luzon and Northern Luzon, the state weather bureau said on Friday.

According to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA), cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms are expected in Palawan due to easterly winds, raising the risk of flash floods and landslides from moderate to heavy rainfall.

Cagayan, Isabela, Apayao, Kalinga, Mountain Province, Ifugao, and Aurora will also experience cloudy conditions with scattered rains and isolated thunderstorms, similarly facing potential flash floods and landslides due to shear line.

Batanes is forecasted to have cloudy skies with rain due to the Northeast Monsoon, posing risks of flash floods and landslides as well.

The Ilocos Region and the Cordillera Administrative Region will see partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms, with possible flash floods during severe weather.

“Forecast rainfall may be higher in mountainous and elevated areas. Moreover, impacts in some areas may be worsened by significant antecedent rainfall,” says PAGASA.

Metro Manila and surrounding areas can expect partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms from localized storms.
