By Vince Lopez

Operatives of the Northern Police District (NPD) have dismantled a “notorious” gang of guns-for-hire with the arrest over the weekend in Caloocan City of six suspected members including a 29-year-old woman tagged as the most wanted person in the district.

Police identified the suspects only by their aliases as Tomboy, of Barangay 36, Caloocan; Jharvis, Ranie, and Renzo, all from Tondo, Manila; and Roel and Jerry, both from Binangonan, Rizal.

The raiders also seized from the suspects at least four unlicensed firearms and ammunitions listed in the police report as a Bushmaster Rifle with 25 rounds of caliber 5.56mm ammunition, a Glock 17 Gen 4 with 15 rounds of caliber 9mm ammunition, a Glock 19 with 13 rounds of caliber 9mm ammunition, and a Taurus PT 1911 Pistol with eight rounds of caliber .45 bullets.

The operation was launched by virtue of an arrest warrant issued by Caloocan Regional Trial Court Judge Rose Sharon Santiago Cordero-Abila.

"The arrest of Tomboy and her cohorts is a testament to the dedication and skill of our operatives," said NPD acting chief Col. Josefino Ligan.

"This accomplishment not only brings a high-value target to justice, but also dismantles a criminal group that has long endangered the safety of our communities. Let this serve as a warning to those who threaten the peace and security of our jurisdiction—we will find you and ensure justice is served," he added.

This operation underscored the Northern Police District's commitment to maintaining peace and order, guided by the National Capital Region

Police Office’s (NCRPO) AAA Strategy which stands for “Able, Active, and Allied,” Ligan noted.

"Our aggressive campaign against illegal firearms is pursuant to NCRPO’s objective of significantly reducing the occurrence of crimes perpetrated with the use of loose firearms as we continue to prepare for the upcoming Midterm National and Local Elections in 2025," said NCRPO officer in charge Brig. Gen. Anthony Aberin.

Aberin emphasized the importance of police vigilance especially during the holidays and the 2025 national and local elections, to ensure peaceful and orderly communities.
