The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) placed all districts, stations, and sub-stations on heightened alert from Dec. 20, 2024, to Jan. 3, 2025, to manage the anticipated surge in passenger traffic during the holiday season.
As part of “Oplan Biyaheng Ayos: Pasko 2024,” the PCG has mobilized 2,736 frontline personnel nationwide to ensure safety and efficiency in port operations.
The PCG monitored 18,623 outbound passengers and 14,782 inbound passengers at ports nationwide on early Saturday.
The heightened alert includes rigorous inspections of vessels and motorbancas. By Saturday morning, 127 vessels and 104 motorbancas had been inspected to verify compliance with maritime safety standards.
Travelers are encouraged to coordinate with the PCG for inquiries or assistance regarding sea travel protocols during the holiday season.
