Charges were filed against a man who held hostage his live-in partner and three children inside their house in Taguig City, the National Capital Region Police said Friday.
NCRPO acting director Brig. Gen. Anthony Aberin said charges of illegal detention, direct assault, alarm and scandal, and unlawful possession of bladed, pointed, or blunt weapons were filed against the 28-year-old construction worker.
The hostage-taking happened on Thursday morning in Barangay Bagumbayan, which stemmed from a domestic dispute between the suspect, identified as “alias Raymond,” and his live-in partner.
The situation escalated when Raymond became violent during their argument, demanding money for alcohol and physically assaulting his partner.
Fearing for their safety, the victims, including their 8-month-old son and other children, sought assistance from the Barangay Bagumbayan Security Force (BSF).
The suspect also attempted to harm the responding officers.
