The Bureau of Corrections (BuCor) on Tuesday said that drug convict Mary Jane Veloso will undergo a five-day quarantine at Mandaluyong’s Correctional Institution for Women (CIW) upon her return to the Philippines.
This is part of the protocol for newly committed persons deprived of liberty (PDLs).
BuCor Director General Gregorio Pio P. Catapang Jr., who will accompany Veloso back into the country, cited the agency’s on the admission and confinement of PDLs.
According to Catapang, Veloso will be mandatorily housed at the Reception and Diagnostic Center for not more than 60 days, comprising a five-day quarantine period and a 55-day orientation, diagnostic evaluation, and initial security classification.
Afterward, she will be transferred to her assigned corrections facility based on the approved resolution of the RDC Initial Classification Board.
During the quarantine period, Veloso will be placed in a regular quarantine cell for medical observation. Here, a medical and physical examination will be given to determine any handicap, physical or mental illness.
The CIW overseer will likewise interview Veloso to gather data or information to complete her registration form as she lists down the names of her relatives or authorized visitors.
After the quarantine period ends on December 24, Veloso’s immediate family can visit her in time for Christmas.
