SC chief advises court employees to seek work-life balance

Supreme Court (SC) Chief Justice Alexander Gesmundo emphasized the importance of work-life balance among judiciary workers as the holiday season approaches.

Gesmundo urged court employees to find a balance in their busy lives—between giving and receiving, between work and rest, and between serving others and caring for their own needs.

“While our schedules nowadays demand much from us, we must remember to draw strength from the relationships and moments that bring us true happiness. We must find time to reconnect with the true sources of our joy—our family, faith, and our community. As we strive to fulfill our duty of bringing justice to others, let us not forget to give the gift of presence to ourselves and to those we hold dear,” Gesmundo said in his Christmas message.

“To become true vessels of justice, we must not only aim to be efficient—we must also aim to be joyful,” he added.

Prioritizing the well-being of everyone in the Judiciary has been one of the Supreme Court’s main objectives under its Strategic Plan for Judicial Innovations 2022-2027 (SPJI).

Gesmundo shared that the SPJI, now in its third year of implementation, recognizes “the needs and welfare of its own employees and officials so that they could, in turn, be at their best as they continue to do the work that they do.”
