Pantone officially revealed its Color of the Year for 2025, naming it Mocha Mousse.
The announcement, made on Thursday, caused a surge in traffic that temporarily overwhelmed Pantone’s servers, highlighting the significance of this annual reveal.”For Pantone Color of the Year 2025, we look to a mellow brown hue whose inherent richness and sensorial and comforting warmth extends further into our desire for comfort, and the indulgence of simple pleasures that we can gift and share with others,” explained Laurie Pressman, Vice President of the Pantone Color Institute.
Pantone’s selection process involves analyzing global trends in fashion and design to identify colors that resonate with current cultural sentiments.
Leatrice Eiseman, executive director of the Pantone Color Institute, emphasized that Mocha Mousse represents a blend of sophistication and simplicity.
“Sophisticated and lush, yet at the same time an unpretentious classic, PANTONE 17-1230 Mocha Mousse extends our perceptions of the browns from being humble and grounded to embrace aspirational and luxe,” she remarked.
This year marks the 26th anniversary of Pantone’s Color of the Year program, which has historically influenced various industries, from fashion to interior design.
To celebrate, Pantone plans to showcase Mocha Mousse through public installations in major cities worldwide, including New York and London.
