The Department of Health (DOH) advised the public to protect themselves against the danger brought by Taal Volcano, following the minor eruption of its main crater on Tuesday, December 3, 2024.
Taal Volcano remains under Alert Level 1 due to its ongoing abnormal condition and the possibility of further eruptions.
The alert still imposed potential hazards, including sudden emissions of smoke, minor ashfall, ground movements, and volcanic gases—all of which may pose risks to those living in nearby areas.
As a precautionary measure, authorities are maintaining a strict no-entry policy within the six-kilometer radius permanent danger zone around the volcano to ensure public safety.
DOH advised affected areas to stay vigilant and be prepared by wearing masks when going out to prevent inhaling ash and volcanic gases. They are also told to prepare essential items in cases of emergency and monitor local government updates and advisories.
The health agency noted that in case the activity escalated, including an increase in phreatomagmatic events, the alert level may be raised, further intensifying the need for preparedness.
