Northeast monsoon brings colder climate, rains prevail due to shear line

Brace for colder days as the northeast monsoon, or “hanging amihan,” strengthens.

On the other hand, a shear line is expected to bring rains to Southern Luzon within the next 24 hours, according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA).

Weather forecaster Veronica Torres stated in a TeleRadyo Serbisyo interview that the shear line will trigger scattered rain and isolated thunderstorms in the National Capital Region, Mimaropa, Calabarzon, Bicol Region, Eastern Visayas, Western Visayas, Isabela, Quirino, Aurora, Nueva Ecija, and Bulacan.

Cloudy skies with rain are anticipated over the rest of Cagayan Valley and the Cordillera Administrative Region due to the shear line.

The remainder of the country could experience localized thunderstorms.

The shear line is defined as an area where warm air from the Pacific Ocean meets cold air from the northeast monsoon.
