Army Chief Lt. Gen. Roy M. Galido emphasized the importance of maintaining physical health and fitness as a foundation for successful military service during the graduation run of Officer Candidate Course (OCC) Class “Katarakian” 61-2024 at New Clark City, Capas, Tarlac.
Among the early finishers in the 21-kilometer run category, the Army Chief urged the graduating cadets and soldiers present at the event to emulate the high level of discipline demonstrated by world-class Filipino athletes.
“I hope that TRACOM (Training Command), ‘the home of Army standards’, will implement this athletes’ discipline to make our Army better,” remarked Lt. Gen. Galido.
“Our service is like a marathon; it entails long preparation if you want to succeed,” he continued.
Approximately 2,000 runners participated in the event, including TRACOM officers, enlisted personnel, and members of the Army Dragon Boat team. This run coincided with the 161st commemoration of Bonifacio Day and the upcoming 73rd founding anniversary of TRACOM.
