Shear line to bring ‘intense’ rains in some areas of Luzon, Visayas

Heavy to intense rains will prevail over areas in Luzon and Visayas due to the effects of shear line, the state weather bureau said on Sunday.

According to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA), from today until Monday noon, heavy to intense rainfall is expected to affect Quezon, Camarines Norte, Camarines Sur, Albay, Sorsogon, Catanduanes, Oriental Mindoro, Occidental Mindoro, Marinduque, and Romblon.

Meanwhile, the areas of Laguna, Batangas, Palawan, Masbate, Aklan, Capiz, Antique, Northern Samar, Eastern Samar, Samar, and Biliran will be hit by moderate to heavy rains.

“Forecast rainfall may be higher in mountainous and elevated areas. Moreover, impacts in some areas may be worsened by significant antecedent rainfall,” Pagasa warned.

The Visayas PAGASA Regional Services Division (PRSD) also raised a red warning level for localities in Aklan and Antique, which means serious flooding is expected.

As of 8 A.M. today, no Low Pressure Areas are being monitored for tropical cyclone formation.
