Camarines Sur Governor Luigi Villafuerte issued a preemptive evacuation order on Sunday following a heavy rainfall advisory from the state weather bureau attributed to shear line that could trigger flash floods and landslides.
Villafuerte instructed all mayors, local disaster officials, and other provincial agencies to implement the order as a matter of precaution to minimize the impact of the weather disturbance on their respective constituents.
“From this evening to Monday evening (December 2), moderate to heavy rains are expected due to the shear line. This weather condition is anticipated to cause numerous flooding in urbanized, low-lying areas and those near rivers, as well as landslides,” the governor said.
PAGASA forecast heavy to intense rains over the provinces of Quezon, Camarines Norte, Camarines Sur, Albay, Sorsogon and Catanduanes based on its 5:00 a.m. advisory.
“Forecast rainfall may be higher in mountainous and elevated areas. Moreover, impacts in some areas may be worsened by significant antecedent rainfall,” it said.
The shear line is also bringing moderate to heavy rains over the provinces of Laguna, Batangas, Oriental Mindoro, Marinduque, Romblon, Masbate, Aklan, Northern Samar, Eastern Samar, Samar, and Biliran.
