The Philippines climbed 31 spots in the 2024 United Nations e-Participation Index, securing 49th place.
This marks a significant improvement from its previous rank of 80th back in 2022.
The e-Participation Index assesses how effectively countries use online tools to promote citizen engagement in government processes.
Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) Secretary Ivan John Uy praised this achievement, highlighting the government’s commitment to digital transformation.
The DICT attributes this success to the eGov Super App, which consolidates various national and local government services into a single platform.
The app facilitates access to essential services such as business registration and tourism information.
Additionally, the Philippines has improved its position in the E-Government Development Index, moving from 89th to 73rd place.
Plans are underway to integrate the Philippine eVisa Portal into the eGov Super App, streamlining visa applications for tourists.
Future enhancements will include features such as citizen-reporting modules and job matching systems through collaborations with over 50 government agencies.
