The National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) reported on Sunday that the death toll from the recent weather disturbances rose to 13.
The casualties were attributed to the effects of Typhoon ‘Nika’ (Toraji) and Super Typhoons ‘Ofel’ (Usagi) and ‘Pepito’ (Man-Yi).
Of the reported fatalities, only five have been confirmed, while eight remain under validation. The reports were gathered from Cagayan Valley, Central Luzon, and the Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR).
In addition, the NDRRMC reported 17 injuries and three individuals still missing due to the typhoons.
Meanwhile, the total number of affected individuals climbed to over 4.2 million, representing more than 1.1 million families.
Among them, 167,798 people have been displaced, with over 105,000 currently housed in evacuation centers across the country, while more than 62,000 sought shelter elsewhere.
