Typhoons Nika, Ofel displace over 52K families—NDRRMC

The National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) reported on Wednesday that Typhoons ‘Nika’ (Toraji) and ‘Ofel’ (Usagi) affected approximately 52,551 families across five regions.

These families, totaling 195,532 individuals, live in 850 barangays in the Ilocos Region, Cagayan Valley, Central Luzon, Bicol, and Cordillera Administrative Region.

Currently, 9,275 families or 28,104 people are seeking shelter in 562 evacuation centers, while an additional 4,658 individuals are receiving assistance outside these centers.

Although no fatalities have been confirmed, the NDRRMC is verifying reports of two injuries in Central Luzon.

So far, 325 homes across the affected regions have been reported damaged.
