The Philippine government expressed its gratitude to the Malaysian government for providing assets that reinforced relief efforts for victims of Severe Tropical Storm Kristine.
“I would like to extend my heartfelt gratitude to the Malaysian Government for their swift response to our request for assistance. Your support during this critical time has been invaluable in our recovery efforts following Severe Tropical Storm Kristine, and it exemplifies our strong partnership in times of need,” said Defense Secretary Gibo Teodoro.
The Philippine Air Force (PAF) held a send-off ceremony to honor the Royal Malaysian Air Force (RMAF), which played a crucial role in providing humanitarian assistance.
This mission, conducted from October 26 to November 2, 2024, involved the deployment of a Eurocopter EC725 Caracal long-range transport helicopter, operated by a team of 16 crew members, to aid disaster response efforts.
“The contributions made by the Royal Malaysian Air Force have made a significant difference in our recovery efforts for the victims of STS Kristine in Bicol. Their prompt and effective support has not only provided essential aid but also strengthened our ties as we work together to overcome this tragedy,” said Civil Defense Administrator Undersecretary Ariel Nepomuceno.
“Their participation in HADR operations exemplified dedication to humanitarian principles and showcased the importance of multinational collaboration in ensuring timely assistance to those affected by disasters,” PAF Spokesperson Colonel Maria Consuelo Castillo added.
The deployment of the RMAF’s Eurocopter EC725 was closely coordinated by the Philippine Air Force, along with the Office of Civil Defense and the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), ensuring timely and efficient distribution of aid to the affected communities.
