Originally scheduled for September 21, the event was part of a series of activities celebrating this year’s 20th National Peace Consciousness Month, which carries the theme “Peace Month @ 20: Bagong Pilipinas—Transforming Minds, Transforming Lives.”

Deputy Presidential Adviser on Peace, Reconciliation and Unity (DPAPRU) Senior Undersecretary Isidro L. Purisima, who represented Presidential Peace Adviser Secretary Carlito G. Galvez, Jr., emphasized the importance of unity in achieving lasting peace.

“Gusto nating mabago ‘yung kaisipan natin, lalong-lalo na ‘yung tungkol sa kapayapaan. Na sana, wala ng violence sa ating lipunan at tayo po ay magkaisa para magkaroon ng harmony and unity sa ating bansa,” he said.

The event featured three categories: 3k, 5k, and 10k. Purisima participated in the 3k category, demonstrating his advocacy for health and fitness as well as his and OPAPRU’s commitment to fostering long-lasting peace.
