Accused sex offender Apollo Quiboloy wants to be a senator

Detained Kingdom of Jesus Christ (KOJC) founder Apollo Quiboloy will be running for the Senate in the May 2025 midterm elections, Commission on Elections (Comelec) chairperson George Garcia said on Tuesday.

Lawyer Mark Tolentino represented Quiboloy in filing his certificate of candidacy (COC) on the last day of the Comelec registration period for aspiring politicians at the Manila Hotel Tent City.

Tolentino did not make any comment when he submitted the COC of Quiboloy to the Comelec.

Quiboloy is currently detained at the Philippine National Police (PNP) custodial facility in Camp Crame, Quezon City after he was arrested by law enforcement authorities following a 16-day search at the KOJC complex in Davao City on September 8.

The megachurch leader is accused of various criminal charges, including rape, sexual abuse, human trafficking, among other serious allegations.
