JUSTICE Secretary Jesus Crispin Remulla on Monday vowed to deliver justice on the 2014 killing of racing car ace Ferdinand Pastor.
Remulla made the pledge amid reports that Pastor’s widow, Dalia Guerrero Pastor, has left the country, and after the Supreme Court (SC) reversed a Court of Appeals (CA) ruling clearing her of complicity in the murder of her husband.
The SC affirmed the validity of the arrest warrant and hold departure order against Dalia arising from parricide charges lodged against her by the Department of Justice (DOJ).
“The wheels of justice will not remain idle or passive now that the High Court has passed down its judgment, the DOJ will join our partner agencies in hunting down the mastermind of Enzo Pastor’s murder,” Remulla stressed.
He added they will be working with international counterparts to track down and extradite Dalia as soon as possible.
Ten years have passed and this is the time to prove that the present administration will do whatever it takes to get the job done at all costs, the Justice chief noted.
Pastor was on board a truck along with his mechanic when they stopped at a traffic light along Visayas Ave. in Quezon City when a gunman sprang out of nowhere and shot the car racer.
Aside from Dalia, the DOJ earlier charged two other suspects for the murder, identified as were Edgar Angel, a policeman, and Dalia’s alleged lover, Domingo De Guzman.
In 2015, the CA dismissed the charges against Dalia, saying her mere knowledge about the murder plot was insufficient to establish her as co-conspirator and mastermind.
With the SC decision, Remulla said he would personally heed the calls of Pastor’s family to track down and prosecute Dalia.
