‘Enteng’ may land on Isabela, Cagayan as it intensifies further—PAGASA

Tropical Storm ‘Enteng’ is on track to move northwestward over the next 24 hours, potentially making landfall over Isabela or Cagayan this afternoon or tonight, PAGASA said on Monday, but a shift in the storm’s path could bring it over northern Aurora instead.

Based on its Monday morning weather advisory, PAGASA said the storm maintains its strength while slowly turning north-northwestward over the sea east of Polillo Islands. Heavy rainfall is expected over the affected areas.

By early Tuesday morning, Enteng is expected to change course towards the west-northwest, with a possible landfall over the Babuyan Islands. The storm is anticipated to slow down from Tuesday to Wednesday, gradually intensifying as it crosses the Luzon Strait.

‘Enteng’ is projected to exit the Philippine Area of Responsibility between Wednesday evening and early Thursday. As it continues to develop, there is a potential westward shift in its track due to a ridge of high pressure forming to the north.

PAGASA said this could lead to increased rainfall across mainland Luzon. Currently a tropical storm, ‘Enteng’ is expected to strengthen into a severe tropical storm by Wednesday, with the possibility of reaching typhoon status by Thursday or Friday.

The eye of the storm was last monitored about 115 kilometers northeast of Infanta, Quezon or 85 km east-southeast of Baler, Aurora. It had maximum sustained winds of 75 kilometers per hour (km/h) near the center and gustiness of up to 90 km/h.
